Canoot find router

Hello,
My daughter's laptop cannot find the wireless router and thus cannot connect to the internet. She can see all her neighbours' network, but not her landlady's. All her other housemates' laptops work fine. Any idea how to solve her problem?

The router can be set to not broadcast the name. Go into the network configuration and go to wireless, Advanced, add a new connection manually using the settings from the other laptops.

Or can the other laptops see the router just fine when browsing but this one can't? Is it an older laptop? Possibly a new external wireless network card can help, I have seen some older laptops have issues picking up wireless networks and an upgrade has always fixed the issue.
