I was looking into a new build and the past two ASUS motherboards have been nothing but hassle, and I would like to use a different brand, so I was thinking of building this mainly for an editing RIG and some gaming here goes.

2600k (Will overclock to around 4.4GHz and cooled by the Noctua NH D14)

G-Skill 8GBXL Ripjaws X

AsrockZ68 Pro 3 Intel 1155 (Link to Motherboard http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0050DQT6G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE )

Then I would partner that with a GTX 460 superclocked.

Any thoughts on this build. At some stage I will Max out the RAM dims for 32GB of RAM...

Cheers Cain.

Do you have any idea if that RAM will fit under the NH D14

The other user says the cooling is bad on this motherboard the phases. I know nothing about this side of motherboards is this true? Not aiming for 5ghz or anything 4.00GHz - 4.4GHz

Since ASUS owns ASRock you might want to rethink ASRock, it's a cheaper version of ASUS.

As posted the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD5 or EVGA Z68 FTW. Both ASUS's I posted are very rare visitors here with 'real' problems; most problems are User in origin or old BIOS.

9/10 your PSU caused the damage, but to make 100% sure: 1. Clear CMOS (the right way) and 2. Breadboard with the stock HSF.

footnote: Gigabyte's aren't #1 on my list -> http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/276715-30-x58a-ud3r-raid-bsod-disk-boot-failure but I'm smart enough not to expect great things from low/mid level MOBO's. My gaming EVGA and other EVGA's have been great, but I too like ASUS. EVGA has IMO the best customer service, warranty + options, and they do the job and hold up.

When I built the PC in the other room I got a good power supply , Corsair HX 750. I have a thread that I will link you to because you might be able to help.

I highly recommend the Corsair Professional Series HX750, and I'm 99% sure it didn't case the problem; it has too many voltage controls. So you're looking at the 1/10. The rule of thumb is then 60% MOBO, 20% GPU, 10% CPU and 10% something else (RAM, Short/grounding short, etc).

I'll take a look...
