Hey guys I'm wondering what does is the difference between a cpu and a black edition cpu?

It's just amd marketing term for an unlocked CPU, the Intel analauge would be the k suffix.

It means the multiplier is unlocked. It helps in overclocking a lot. You don't have to set the RAM back then, or bump up the FSB so much causing a non-stable CPU. If you plan to OC, grab a BE CPU.

It depends, do you OC? Also, AMD makes there higher-tier CPUs all BE.

Black edition processors are unlocked (multiplier) processors..so, essentially it allows you to overclock the chip a bit easier..however, a black edition cpu is not always necessary and isn't always the best...it tends to be slightly more expensive, but it is worth it..however, if your not into overclocking then perhaps it may not be your best bet...but, it's fairly cheap so...why not?

Yes, but AMD's higher tier CPU are BE no matter what, so you are forced to buy one if you want a higher clocked CPU.

Newer silicon will tend to be better as processing is constantly improved regardless of revision number...not much of a difference though.
