Can palit gtx 465 be unlocked?

Hi,
im just wondering if the palit gtx 465 can be unlocked to a gtx 470? if not what brands will? and do they still do it?

No, that is simply not possible. While similar, they are different GPUs. Good luck!

its iffy, you have to get the vertion with the full 10 memory chips for possibility of max memory which i think you usually get with asus

basically you reflash the bios and hope it works.. it might be sucessful it might fail and you can usually restore to 465 again.

even when you do unlock it the sofware you will sometimes get close to 470 performance in the best cases but still not on par with a real 470... but it gives it a pretty signifigant boost... when it works

note this will not necessarily work, at worst it will likely void your warrenty but there is a possibility of a 470 but due to defects it may require it to stay at stock frequesncies.

Having just looked at the specs between the 470 and 465 again, I can't imagine how flashing a 465 with a 470 BIOS/firmware will work. There are several significant differences between the GPUs, including amount of memory, memory width interface, CUDA cores, etc.

Seems attempting this "upgrade" will most likely result in bricking the 465. I do not recommend this course of action.

yea its risky, mostly you're unlocking the dorment parts of the chip that were disabled after the binning process to make the 465's uniform. rarely will you see a full unlock to a 470 and usually if it doesn't work you can reflash to a regular 465... but you might possibly brick it.

never heard of anybody bricking one using the asus unlock tool though .. there's been failures where it just has to stay a 465 though

Thanks i will take this to note i remember someone telling me all i have to do is check the gpu and see how many memory chips it has
