I just got my new rig with the i7 2600k and its getting really low benchmark scores on windows exp index. Its 6.7 for the CPU, anyone else getting drastically low cpu scores with the i7 2600k?

Just saw at least one other thread with poor Sandybridge WEI scores

try a benchmark like Cinebench 11.5 (free-google it)
then use that to compare to other 2600k owners

WEI is a horrible benchmark
WEI is bad
Ignore WEI!

Agreed. Don't pay much attention to the WEI. For example, my C2Q Q9400 gets a 7.2, but obviously the 2600K is a superior-newer chip. Stick to the various benchmark programs out there like Cinebench, Futuremark, etc... (read a few of the articles here on Tom's and check out the some of the benchmark software used), as they'll give you far more accurate results.

should make a sticky on why WEI is a poor benchmark.

Weird. I get 7.7 for my i7-2600. Maybe you're talking about the overall index? It's 5.9 for me, because the overall is calculated based on the lowest score (HDD in my case).

It may depend on what OS you have. ?

I will say it again
WEI is USELESS

use Cinebench 11.5 or one of Futuremark 3Dmark
or Sisoft Sandra

those are REAL benches

I have heard of Core2Duos beating I3/I5 on WEI!!!
freakin joke

I'm guessing you either have a 32-bit OS or there is an issue with the motherboard/bios. I have an i5-2500k and I get 7.5 at stock speed (3.3ghz) and 7.6 when overclocked (4.2ghz).

I get 7.6 on stock. 7.8 overclocked

And yes, if you are using a 32 bit OS, you will be taking a sizable performance hit
