Hello,

I have a Pentium Dual-Core E6700 @ 3.2GHz (2 Threads)
My Wife has a i5 520M @ 2.4 GHz (4 threads)

Now I'm not thoroughly versed in the differences between FSB an Core technology, but should I really be seeing my E6700 outperform her i5 almost consistently?

Update: Not exactly the most common benchmarking, but when it comes to SETI@Home, my PDC is blowing her i5 out of the proverbial water. Even though her i5 has 4 threads and I only have 2. I guess some can be attributed to my higher clock speed, but you'd think that hers can process 4 tasks at a time. Graphics are not much of a comparison either since she's stuck with a GPU using shared memory and mine has is a 5670 with 1GB onboard. And I built my system for 1/5 the cost of her Laptop. $ for $ I got more bang for my buck, but that's somewhat normal with Desktop. I can run XP in Virtualbox under Linux and performs on par (if not better) than my Pentium M @ 1.8 GHz Laptop running XP natively. Most of my results are subjective and I don't do any real gaming on any of my systems. Mostly Internet, Office, CAD/CAM, Netflix, video transfer (VHS to DVD), and of course SETI@home.

Mine:
Pentium Dual Core E6700 @3.2GHz,
4GB DDR2,
1TB Hitachi SATA (linux),
120GB Maxtor 6Y120L0 IDE (xp),
16X8X5 DVD+-RW DL burner,
ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB,
Asus P5G41T-M/CSM,
Slackware 13.37

Hers:
Core i5 520M @ 2.4 -2.93GHz
4GB DDR3
500GB SATA Hard Drive
BD-ROM Drive
ATI Radeon HD 5450 1GB Shared "HyperMemory"
Dell Laptop mobo
Win7 64 Pro
