Hey All,

Getting close to budget and I need a good cheap graphics card (~100$ or less)

Heres the current setup (as I would like to purchase).

MSI 890FXA-GD65 AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX

Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W Continuous @40°C,80 PLUS Certified, Single 12V Rail, Active PFC "Compatible with Core ...

Rosewill Smart One ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, Black interior, comes with three Fans-1x Front Blue LED 120mm Fan, 1x Rear ...

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

115 $ monitor and 50$ HDD (7200)

I plan on buying this off of newegg sometime this week. I would like to game on it but I also plan on going (Back) to school for IT and want a beast of a machine. The setup as of now is running about 650$. No OS for now I plan on putting Ubuntu on it till next payday when I can get Win7.

With what you have, a 4650 or 4670 would be in the budget range. Or, go with a 890GX board, the savings could free $50 dollars for a 5750 or 5770 card. I'll leave my opinion about the X6 vs. X4 Phenom II to myself, since you're asking about GPU's.

Ouch $650 with gaming on the table and still the one most important h/w for a gaming rig i.e the GPU not there?
