after installing windows xp, i have no audio.

have you installed the sound drivers?

you can find them either on the motherboard vendor website or computer manufacturer website. If it is a separate sound card, check the sound card manufacturer website.

You did plug in all the needed wires into the correct slots, I hope. And as already mentioned, you installed the drivers. Also, sometimes the needed drivers are on the disk that came with the motherboard; either listed in "Drivers" or sometimes in "Utilities". I've had it happen myself that I couldn't get sound and there was a needed driver on the disk with the motherboard. Just something to think about.
