$1300 Gaming PC, what you guys think?

Hey everyone I'm finally building my first gaming PC but I was just wondering if I could get some feedback and advice from some of you. :D

I'm super excited to get started on it but I need some clarification on if I'm on the right track and all.

I'm mainly going to be using it to play Crysis 2 on max settings at 1920x1080 (as well as BF3 when it releases) and other games of that quality.

Here's what I got so far:

Logitech MK710 Black RF Wireless Ergonomic Desktop

EVGA 123-CD-E635-KR LGA 1156 Intel H55 ATX Intel Motherboard

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6950 2GB Video Card

Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760

CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Acer S231HLbid Black 23" 5ms HDMI LED-Backlight LCD monitor Slim Design 12,000,000:1

LITE-ON 24X DVD Writer Black SATA Model iHAS424-98 LightScribe Support

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM

Logitech Z523 40 Watts RMS 2.1 Speaker System

Thermaltake Armor A90 w/ 850 Watt PSU

With shipping and minus rebates it's around $1320 so far.

So what you guys think? :)

More about 1300 gaming guys think
  1. The Thermaltake TR2 RX 850W W0319RU power supply unit that is included with the Thermaltake Armor A90 case has horrendous reliability. So many DOAs and failures within a short period (a few minutes to a few weeks) of use.

Budget for name brand power supply from any of Antec, Corsair, Enermax, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, XFX.
  2. Yeah I've gotten that quite a few times but when I looked up that same exact power supply as a lone unit the reviews for it were pretty good. Is the one packed with the case different then the power supply unit retailed alone?

Do you have links to those reviews? Were they full objective test reviews or just someones opinion?
  4. lol they were Newegg opinions on the power supply product page so I guess their not THAT legit... :)
  5. Now here's a build to give you an idea of what you could be looking at if you wait a month ...or even less to purchase the cpu and mobo.

  6. Well I would recommend holding off for Sandy Bridge to come back on the market because the new i5 is as fast as the current i7 and for the price you will pay for that lynnfield. Any way in the thought that you might want this sooner and I really dont know when they will rerelease ill lay out a quick build with combos.

First get rid of that mobo, it only has 8 reviews on Newegg and even though EVGA makes quality gpu's I dont know if it carries over to mobos. Stick with reliable brands like ASUS and Gygabite, even Asrock is starting to produce some nice stuff.

    MOBO 138$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128435

    CPU 210$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115067&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3463938&SID=

    GPU 260$: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102914&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3463938&SID=

    Tower 75$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133176
(notice the case alone has free shipping, thats 25$ you dont have to spend)

    PSU 80$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

    Peripherals 50$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823201037

(all about personal choice really but unless you want illuminated keys then this will suite you I think, you didnt have a keyboard with them to begin with so I am assuming you dont mind?)

    RAM 50$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277&cm_re=ripjaws-_-20-231-277-_-Product

This Ram rocks, G.Skill has stepped up its game this year in giving strong reliable consumer based RAM. To top that their customer service is killer form what I have seen.

    HD 65$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3463938&SID=

(Good choice best drive in my opinion for the price)

    Drive 23$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106335&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=3463938&SID=

(Dollar for dollar again a good choice)

    Monitor 150$: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236100
(This monitor is only 21.5" but its LED back lit and from the reviews pretty nice, I recommend it)

Speakers : Ill poke around for nice ones for you need to read a few reviews before I can recommend some.

    OS 100$ : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754&cm_re=windows_7-_-32-116-754-_-Product

Total : 1,201$ with rebates and shipping all calculated in.

There are a few things I can tweak quick and will come back to you on, I tried to keep most personal preference things the same for instance case type.

EDIT: My buddy jsut last week recommended these to me http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836116044

They look killer in my opnion and appear to have the quality to boot, they will run a little steeper though at 140$
