All expert please help me choose

Core 2 Quad Q8300 (45nm)
4MB L2 Cache
2.5Ghz 1333Mhz FSB

Core 2 Quad Q6600 (65nm)
8MB L2 Cache
2.4Ghz 1066Mhz FSB

Between these two processor, which one is worth to buy? Because some said, that one is good, this one is good, I don't know. So, I hope in this Tom's forum, someone can give me perfect answer, why is it bad/good, etc. And, are these processor can be considered as an "old processor" because they were made at 2007 (correct me if im wrong)?

I would go for the Q6600.
It has more feature's that where not implemented in the Q8300 like visualization, it packs more cache and has better overclock capability's.

There is not much between the 2 and yes they are old processors and if this is for a new build them forget them unless they are free or less.

I agree with simon12. Unless you have a socket 775 system needing a CPU upgrade it makes more sense to move to modern architectures.

I'd like to recommend Intel here but with all of Intel's socket changing shenanigans I'm losing faith with the blue team!

Why not a CPU with a "little" more lasting power, like a Q8400? A decent quad system is still capable of doing quite a bit of gaming, but if your going to upgrade a legacy 775 system, you may as well do it right...
