How much horsepower do you have installed? Do you feel the need to upgrade in the next 6 months? I am currently running an ATI Radeon HD 5970 and have been for about a year now. I am not inclined to upgrade just yet, how about you?

5750, right now I'm fine @ 1280x1024 but I've got a 1080p monitor coming, so I'm prepared for the worst... If I do upgrade it'll probably be a 460 1GB

Im running a 5770 right now, I would definatley like to upgrade to a gtx 470 or a 6870 and crossfire in the future. I can't justify the price premium/performance ratio to go for a 6950. The 5770 is a good card but I like to max most things out and either game at 1650 or 1920X1080. Either way I'm itching to upgrade because I feel like I didnt go with a powerful enough (for my tastes) card to begin with.

If I had a larger budget I would definatley go for a gtx 570 for a single card solution.

I've been running a pair of 4870x2s for two years now, and I honestly don't see much incentive to upgrade yet (although the 1GB of VRAM can be a bit lacking on modern games). I did just upgrade my monitor though, and my GPUs struggle a lot more than they used to (I went from 1920x1200 to 2560x1600)

Running a Zotac GTX 470 AMP!

Started to eye up two GTX 570s, since I know I can get at least $350 for this beast used, or another cheap GTX 480 used and a Zalman VF3000F (with a can of black spray paint, have you seen how HIDEOUS the OEM version is?!). But to be honest, I've yet to find a game that isn't maxed and buttery smooth. Also, the cost becomes prohibitive if I must upgrade my PSU.

As usual, the enthusiast in me is pretty crazy, but eventually reason won out.

running an oc'd 8800gts 640mb. Am feeling the slowness a bit, still runs everything i play quite well though (at 1440x900 mind you). I dont NEED to upgrade but i WANT to upgrade. looking to upgrade as soon as a game i really want to play comes out and i cant run it and also will be looking for a 1080p monitor to go with it.

I have a 5750. I only play TF2 which this card handles very well. I'm at 1680x1050 and have everything maxed, with 4x AA. Runs fine. I wouldn't mind an upgrade, but simply don't see the need to.

Don't feel so bad. The reason I'm excited about my setup is because I upgraded just 6 months ago from a 7800GS card on a Pentium 4 AGP system.

Wow matto, that was a huge upgrade. Insane really.

Lets see, right now I'm on a (the first ATI XFX type of card I think) XFX 4850 1GB with my 1055T @ 3.2GHz/3.6GHz Turbo. Also have in the main gaming comps a 470 Twin Frozr and reference 5850 (see sig).

Single PCB EVGA GTX 295.

Suits my needs, runs every single game at 1080p on max settings thus far. Might upgrade to a single 580 here in the next 6 months. Maybe.

I'm happy with it though, it's served me well for over a year now.

Yeah, I was milking it for all it was worth to get it play Oblivion and Fallout 3. It was, after all, a very rare Gainward 7800GS+ with a 7900GT chip, so it overclocked like a demon, but still...

Oblivion runs really nice on a 470 (or higher obviously), provided you have the proper mountain of mods. I'm still tweaking it (the 470) to get it to run an updated Morrowind properly (then hopefully it will be equal to my 5850 in that game).

update to my graphics card... and i have somebody on here to thank, evega ran a contest where you could "win" a gts 450 but you basically pay $65 to try it out and if you want to keep it you keep it, if you don't you return to get a full refund with free shippign both ways

i entered and won so as of when it get here gts 450 SLI :D  120 for the asus, and 65 for the evega, total $185 for the pair pretty good bang for the buck there i think

wish i knew who linked the contest to thank them properly though

<-- is happy

To be fair she doesn't rain on my parade when it comes to guns. Then again I also tend to by stuff at MicroCenter and *ahem* throw away the bag before I walk in through the door, and then wait until she's occupied to bring in said stuff. "When did you get that?" "A couple of months ago." :D

I know exactly how you feel! I bought a duplex with my sister, shes downstairs and I'm upstairs. I have literally over $10k between pc and monitors. Every time she sees something new its "I bet that cost like $100, you should save your money..." and I'm thinking "I really wish that only cost $100. Glad she's not techie.

Currently stationed in Houston. Microcenter is my favorite store, much better than Fry's even though it's smaller.

By-the-by I bought a second GTX 275 at Microcenter for $120 (I love open boxes), SLI here I come, and don't tell the wife that I'm pulling her 250 and replacing it with a 7900GS so I can use the 250 for physX. Which means I'm not going to upgrade for awhile.

I've got a 8600GTS 512 MB, running at 1440 x 900. ...yep. Had it for three years. I am now tired of running games on medium & low settings or reducing resolution. I want eye-candy, dammit! Although, it is fun to play older games (from 2006 and before) and totally juice the graphics and have everything really smooth. I went back and played through the splinter cell series during the summer and it was great! Except for double agent, cause it was too buggy.

Planning on upgrading to a 6870 or 470 in the next month or so, now that they are coming down to ~$200. Something that will last me another 2-3 years and hopefully a monitor upgrade as well!
