Advice on my Low Cost Gaming PC

I'm putting together a budget gaming rig... I will need it to play Diablo 3 on high settings and other current games as well at 1080p. Please let me know if this makes sense or how you would change it, what this setup would be able to handle, if it even makes sense, etc. Thanks in advance!

  1. suggestions to change:

Get a triple or quad core cpu:
    Athlon II X3 450 is $10 less
Athlon II X3 455 is the same price
    Athlon II X4 640 is $10 More

Get the AS Rock 770 or 880 GM motherboard for $59.99

Get 4 GB DDR3-1333 for $5 more than your 2 gb ddr2-667 kit
  2. Thanks for the quick reply! Is there going to be a big difference in performance between the X3 and the X4 CPU under most circumstances? Does it matter much what brand of memory I buy?
  3. I own the asrock 770 board and it's a decent board for the price. I also own the phenom 2 555 and can tell you you're probably better off buying a phenom 955 or athlon x4 640. You're just never certain whether or not the 2 latent cores are able to unlock. I bought/made the CPU knowing this and got lucky. Right now it's sitting pretty at 3.7ghz on all 4 cores and it is an absolutely mindboggling deal if it does unluck and spare some headroom for OCing, but in hindsight I would've went with the safe bet in the phenom 955 - cheaper PSU that still provides plenty of power for an OC'd CPU and a mid-range video card. - 955 if you want to spend more on a CPU with good sized l3 cache and unlocked multiplier w/ 4 cores. - athlon 640. Lacks the unlocked multiplier and the l3 cache but still a great processor. - Asrock 770. - 8 cas DDR3 1333 at 46 bucks. free shipping.
