Hi, I'm looking to replace/upgrade the mobo in my HP Pavilion Elite e9100z desktop. From most accounts, the OEM Pegatron has the potential of being a loser, or at least a short-lived mobo. After searching around online, my question is still: Can I upgrade a Pegatron M2N78-LA with an ASUS M4A88T-M? They're available everywhere, including eBay for about $80 w/ free shipping.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes. They are both micro ATX boards. Check the Asus site for that board to be sure your existing RAM and CPU are compatible. Your old board uses DDR2 memory, and the new Asus will require DDR3.

your wrong, if you don't know what your talking about, then don't post anything. Refer to the memory support of the board m2n78-la, you said DDR2. Also look at the compatibility of the pin connectors for the fans, its 4 not 3 like the m2n78? Are you going to buy my new fans? Any questions?
