all the benchmarks i've seen on the 6950 /6970 point to the 6950 being th best bang for the buck if you are willing to overclock

if you are planning to leave the clocks stock the 570 and the 6970 trade blows, the 6970 tends to win the most but it realy depends on what games you play to give you a straight answer for 570 vs 6970 ... so what games do you wanna play or sue of the card?

If your native resolution is 1920x1080 or above the HD6970 is probably the best choice, and it's just a shade more expensive than the GTX570 ($USD, anyways).

Yeah, another vote for HD6970.

But, why don't you tell us your FULL specs here?

I currently have a build which i will slip it into for now (core2quad q8400 OCd to 3.2ghz etc) and when I get my new build I will hand the core2quad pc down to my brother and swap the new graphics card into my new computer

just for laughs the hd 6960 is R4200 in my country from a wholesaler which is $613 no joke and yes it is the hd 6950

and the hd 6870 here in SA is R5400 which is $787 and this is from a wholesaler (rectron) now you see how we are getting ripped off

The price difference between the 6950 and the 6970 is too big, go with the 6950.
So far i've seen, the 6950 is around 10% slower than the 6970, but the 6950 has minus 10% core and memory clocks. If you OC the 6950 to 880core and 5500memory you get almost the same results as the 6970, the difference is only 1 fps from 6970 and 6950 (880/5500).
So for R1200 difference go with the hd 6950.
