Ok, this is my first build so I thought i would run it by random people on the internet... then i decided it would probably be better to ask the regulars at TomsHardware! Some parts I already have from my Gateway-830Gm, and I will order the others. I'm doing my best to keep the price down.

Budget: $400-800

Use: Media/ mid range gaming (guild wars/gw2) Web browsing, music

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 630 / 3.0 GHz (already have, planning on overclocking)
I was just going to use the heatsink that was already on the processor TMGi2

Graphics card: gigabyte gv-rx13128d-rh (already have)

Motherboard: ASRock P4i945GC 478 Intel 945GC Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
It has a maximum of 4g ddr2. (i have 1g of ddr2 533 and 1g of ddr2 266 but neither are compHD[/b]: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"

(do i need more?)

Overclocking: mabey

Audio Card: just going to use integrated audio

Did i miss anything? any major errors? suggestions?
I still need to pick a case but I dont think thats a big deal

Thanks for your time and responses!

Ouch - fresh builds just dump all those parts and go with DDR3 and the sun has gone down on DDR2 platforms with all current/incoming ones DDR3 based @@

My ECR (el cheapo rig)/80+ PSU based rig for this month:

X4 640 +Biostar A780L3G $96

Items off Egg $162

$258 total, core build for serious gaming add a discrete GPU

edit Crucials are sold out so alternative RAM for ECR

I might not be seeing it clearly, but in the link for you computer, is the motherboard backwards? Looks like it is. If thats true, you won't be able to reuse that case.

Your budget isn't really falling in line with the parts your choosing. You chose 150$ worth of parts there, all of them bottom end. I wouldnt consider that setup anywhere near midrange for gaming.

Replace that hard drive with one like this, if your looking to keep the noise and power consumption down, also specs are much better:

Also, that power supply is undersized and not somthing you should skimp on. Spend more than 15$ Especially if your planning to do any kind of overlocking.

Thanks, I had head some people saying that there really wasn't a difference between DDR2 and DDR3 at the moment, I guess I'm going back to the drawing board.

Hey just wondering, does your name mean father as in a parent or a father in a religious sense?
