Replacement For Radeon HD4850

I have a bit of an older system and my video card is going out on me. It's an ASUS HD4850 with 512MB of RAM. I'm either looking to replace or upgrade a tad and not looking to pay too much money, at least right now. Motherboard is a P5Q SE with 2GB of RAM and power is a Thermaltake 650 Watt. (I think, too lazy to get up and check right now) Any recommendations would be welcome. Thanks folks.

  1. Budget?
  2. I'd like to stay around $100 if possible. I'm not opposed to going a bit over. If I start getting to the $150 or higher range, I may as well fork over the additional money to get a GTX 450 or something like that. ATI or Nvidia, either is fine with me. I've used both in the past.

Forgot to mention that my processor is a Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale. Thanks.
  3. At $100 the best you can do is a GTS450/another 4850
  4. Thanks, I was thinking about the GTS 450. I'd like to stay less than $150, probably in the $120-$130 range. I saw some 5770s for around that price. It seems like they're decent cards and maybe a bit of an upgrade for me. I'm running XP on my system if that helps for a recommendation. Thanks.
  5. Bump, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  6. Actually I found this GTS 450 for $89.99 after rebate. What do you all think?

Seems like a really good deal to me.
  7. ^looks pretty good.
  8. this is the card i use

140 up front but down to 125 after rebate. i got it on black friday sale, can't say enough good about it, fast, overclocked high from the factory, runs cool. i'll be sliing it as soon as the second gts 450 (won one) comes in, but solo it handles WoW at 75 fps in ultra (1280x1024) and mass effect 1/2 bioshock, and borderlands all maxed

if you're going with the lower end odels i'd probly get the evega before the gigabyte, stock clocked a bit higher 5 more up front but 5 less after rebate
  9. yeah gts 450 is better than hd 5770,because it has dx11 and physx as 2 in 1 budget package.
  10. Thanks guys. I'm going to go with that EVGA as the price is right and it seems like a good card. If I want more speed I can always overclock it later. (doubt I'll do that) SLI doesn't matter much to me as my P5Q SE isn't an SLI board.
  11. might consider 2 more gb of ram instead of a card
