Step to replacing the motherboard ?

Hi i'm currently using dell studio xps435mt with this mobo http://compare.ebay.com/like/270759092439?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar, running window 7 32bit with 640gb hdd , cpu is i7 920 lga 1366 x58 , i wonder if i want to upgrade the motherboard to like let say msi big bang x58 xpower, do i have to uninstall current window then plug the new mobo in then reinstall it or it will work without doing anything?

Chances are pretty good that you will have to reinstall windows from scratch if you replace the MB. Sometimes, if the two MB's are very similar, a reinstall is not necessary, but most of the time it is necessary.

thanks but do I have to uninstall the old os in hdd ? Since if I reinstall a new os on the new mobo will it automatic replacing the win?

I think there's a good chance you will not need to reinstall. Both boards are based on the X58 chipset.

If you are going to upgrade the motherboard, why not take this opportunity to install 64 bit Win7?

that's what I had in mind also, but to think about backing up and reinstall all the programs made me think twice, I just have to replace mobo then put the os disk in right, then reinstall, and I would not need to uninstall anything right ?
