I purchased my wife a GeForce 460 card, then purchased a motherboard that only supports ATI Crossfire. What ATI card is like the 460? I would like to get an ATI then have the option to add a second one later with Crossfire.

Don't bother with the 4870 as it uses nearly as much power as a GTX460 and is older plus they are known to be poorly maintained by most users. If you are looking at something that isn't for gaming the most she would need or want would be a 5770 due to it's low power usage and lower thermals.

The hd 6850 is the newest AMD card that compares to the gtx 460 for gaming.
Most never end up going crossfire or SLI.
But that would be the card I'd exchange it for.

6850. dont bother with the other cards that are listed in the same tier as the 460 on toms, old tech. As mentioned above the 5770 is good but if I was using this for gaming I'd get a 6850, and plan to crossfire in the future, or go 6870 if you can find a good deal on one, I just purchased one and I'm very happy for a single card running most games at 1080p

The HD5770 doesn't compare to the GTX 460. Only the HD5830 and the HD6850 (or 6870 in some conditions) do.
