Hello,

Well I was reading about the sttements that Boot Secotr viruses are not that prevalent anymore. I disagree, over the last year I have had to disinfect 3 computers that have had CMOS infections.

A very complicated process and one that requires a full scrub of the hard drives, a reset of the cmos, possible flash of the cmos if required, and reload of the total system.

The Process:

Formt the Hard Drive.

Reset Cmos - If you have a virus the startup screen will indicate that the Cmos Checksum is not correct and that the system reset to the Cmos defaults. Effectivly scrubbing your Cmos settings.

Install Clean Hard Drive

Install Operating System

Install Virus Protection Software

Run the system for a few days, say running virus scans.

No Blue Screens or crashes you are good.

Second Options, Same as Above
Except Flash the Bios with the latest Bios Version from the motherboard provider.
