ATI 5770 vs Nvidia 460

I'm also guessing your not in the USA. Over here the 5770 is priced quite a bit cheaper then the GTX460. The GTX460 is certainly the faster card. If its a choice between the two you want the GTX460. It does consume more power however so you probably want to upgrade that PSU first.

You should try and buy a better SMPS first. A 400 W will not be enough. You should either go for a 550 W or 600 W SMPS. The GTX 460 does deliver better performance than the HD 5770. In SLI mode the 460 GTX will be equal to a 480 GTX

450 GTS will be enough for CODMW 1and 2 and even COD7. It will deliver good performance in Crysis. Crysis 2 is whole new different topic. Since it uses CryEngine 3 you can not really know the requirements.

crytek is saying that the engine is very optimised and it will run better than crysis 1.I believe that it wont be demanding because of the following reasons
1.Its being developed with console hardware in mind
2.The story is set in a city.At a particular screen the graphic card is only rendering like 8 buildings in your view while in crysis 1 it was rendering hundreds of bushes and trees which are stressful on the gpu
3.Crytek stated in an interview that on their core i7 test computers the nvidia 200 series were eating the engine for breakfast.

the gts 450 is equal to a underclocked 5770 so its a pretty good card.The gtx 460 768mb is equal to a ati 5770 superclocked.The GTX 4601gb is on par with a 5830/5850

gtx 460 1gb is better than hd 5830,surely you can call it hd 5840 

yeah but it one of toms reviews of crysis it performed below the 5830.its performance in most other games is between the 5830 and 5850.
TBH though in most of the reviews I saw I still felt the 5830 competed more with the gtx 260 than the 5850 and 5770.I still don't understand while ppl call 5830 a strong card and a gtx 260 weak

Considering how poorly the 5770 OCs, I would deny that. The 5770 is a good card, but it can't compete with the GTX460.

theres no question, the GTX 460 is better in every way.

Iam thinking about choosing the Gtx 460.
Firstly: cheaper
Secondly: i can upgrade if iam not happy.
Finally: i've seen what a i3 530 plus a 5770 [GPU stock] can do and its intense. So if a 450 can out perform the 5770 then ill be amazed. but if theres anything else out there thats cheaper and performs better let me know  

it all depends on your resolution
at 1680X1050 a gts 450 is a minimum requirement,a 5770 is recommended and a ati 5830,gtx 260(even if its old tech its a awesome card)
at 1920X1080 and above a gtx 460 is a minimum requirement a 470 is recommeded and gtx 570 is optimum
