Hello,
I have read through alot of the great knowledge but in the end it can seem overwhelming. For a $1000 bucks or less, what is the best AMD or Intel CPU based machine that I can build for pure gaming. I do fiddle around with Photoshop CS4 but that is not my main concern. I would love to get into overclocking on air. Thanks so much for the wealth of knowledge. The OS would be WIN7 64-bit.

Please keep in mind although the budget is $1000, I can go a little over or way under. I would like the best Price to Performance ratio. So if the machine can perform great at $500 bucks that is fine too.

Lastly, I play primarily play MMORPG's and occasional FPS if that helps.

Thanks again

This would be fine for somewhat heavy 1920 x 1080 gaming and light workstation functions as is

Hmm, this might be somewhat of a tight fit, but it will get you excellent performance. You would have to wait for Sandy Bridge to re-release, though.

i5 2500k ($230)
Gigabyte UD3P ($160)
G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 MHz, Cas 7, 4 GB (~$70)
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB ($65)
HAF 912 ($60)
GTX 570 ($315)

XFX Black Edition 650 Watt ($65)

Wow that was fast.

2 replies already and I appreciate it. I should of added, I do already have a couple monitors, keyboard and mouse. So, all I would need is the PC.

Thank you very much for your help.
