I have an emachine et1831-05 and i was wondering what the best/max processor i can buy for it is? I cant seem to figure out what the motherboard is specifically in order too find out the max cpu.

I wouldn't bother with that chip for a number of reasons:

1. It's old
2. It's slow
3. It runs hot
4. It consumes more power than more recent dual-core chips.

I'm guessing your PC is using a Celeron CPU? If your on a tight budget then i would recommend one of the newer Pentium Dual Core chips from the newegg link that bloodymoth posted. Go for at least the Pentium E5500... If money is no object then get a good Core 2 Quad CPU
