Hi, I've been having problems with my GT220 and I thought it might have been because of my previous 400W power supply. Now I've upgraded to an Antec Earthwatts 650W and unfortunately I'm experiencing the same problem.

After 5 minutes of playing Mass Effect, the screen goes black and a message saying my monitor has gone to sleep appears and i can't do anything about it other than restart my computer holding the power button.

I've noticed that lately my video card has been reaching high temperatures such as 64C while being idle, I guess this might contribute to the recent problems I've been having.

I want to know if i can solve this problem or i might as well be better off buying a new video card, an ATI radeon 5770 perhaps? nothing expensive.

Right now it was at 55c in idle but after 5 minutes of playing Mass Effect it went up to 105c and the screen went black but i could still hear the sound of the game. What is causing my card to overheat and how can i prevent it ?

Ok, then , remove the card, clean out any dust in there - that may be causing the excess heat-
