What does "rop" stand for, what is it, in the context of thd newer graphics cards. All I got from reading graphics card reviews here is that they are just a group of a few streaming multiprocessors for the sake of organization, but I figure there is something more to it.

ROP stands for Raster Operator; "Raster Operators (ROPs) handle several chores near the end of the of the pixel pipeline. ROPs handle anti-aliasing, Z and color compression, and the actual writing of the pixel to the output buffer."
