Doubt with phenom II x4 955 BE

Hello everyone.
I`m planning to buy the AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE, and overclock it to around 3.8 ghz. I have a average cooler for the entire computer.
Would it be better to buy a CPU fan cooler, or one for the entire computer?? Thank you!

More about doubt phenom
  1. for oveclocking you will definitely need an aftermarket cpu cooler.
  2. No, not necessarily, and especially not with a chip like this. I OCed my 965 to 3.9 with the stock cooler fine, never above the 50s. Do you mean that you don't have a case fan?

    It sounds unreal for me.
  4. you will almost certainly need a new CPU cooler. The Phenom II's chew through a lot of voltage when overclocked to those speeds.
  5. Thank you guys, i bought the 955, with a cpu cooler, and a case cooler.
Thanks so much for the support
