Doubt with phenom II x4 955 BE

Hello everyone.
I`m planning to buy the AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE, and overclock it to around 3.8 ghz. I have a average cooler for the entire computer.
Would it be better to buy a CPU fan cooler, or one for the entire computer?? Thank you!

for oveclocking you will definitely need an aftermarket cpu cooler.

No, not necessarily, and especially not with a chip like this. I OCed my 965 to 3.9 with the stock cooler fine, never above the 50s. Do you mean that you don't have a case fan?

It sounds unreal for me.

you will almost certainly need a new CPU cooler. The Phenom II's chew through a lot of voltage when overclocked to those speeds.
