Hello,
I don't know what pc to get for my first gaming rig.

I found this pc on walmart.com for $598

.Processor Type: Intel Core i3-550
Hard Drive Size: 1TB
Processor - Clock Speed: 3.2GHz
Multimedia Drive: Yes
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Monitor Size: N/A
Graphics Type: ATI Radeon HD 5450
Resolution: N/A
System Ram: 4GB

Not sure if this is a good enough pc or not.
Is there something better to get around the same price?

Solution
for gaming this won't be to good since the graphics card to be honest Sucks. if you want buy that PC and then buy a 100-150 dollar graphics card and you'll be fine with all games. well depending on the resolution, a HD 5770 would be a good choice

+1, that 5450 in that PC will be worse than any console.

If you are brave you could also build your own rig for about the same $600-700. Of course that is without the monitor but you also will not have all the crapware you are going to get from the walmart PC. Honestly it is not hard at all to build a PC. The hardest part is just choosing the parts. Its actually a fun learning experience.
