My 425 watt PSU that came with my Dell XPS 420 has started to make a high pitch noise as of late. I suspect that it may be on its last legs, so I'm looking to replace it. My question is what PSU would be a good replacement? I was eying this one http://tinyurl.com/3fyza43 but am not sure it is compatible with my rig. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Dell OEM power supply unit is a standard ATX form factor power supply.

As long as the PSU you select is at least a minimum of 400 Watts or greater with a minimum +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amps it should work.

The Corsair Builder Series CX600 (CMPSU-600CX) that you have linked to has recently been discontinued and is being/ has been replaced by the Corsair Builder Series CX600 V2 (CMPSU-600CXV2) that is 80 PLUS® Certified and with a 3 Year warranty instead of the discontinued model's 2 Year warranty.

The two Seasonic built Antec PSUs that @mosox listed are also good units and are both 80 PLUS® Certified with 3 Year warranty.
