Building My First Gaming Rig

Hello, folks. Long time reader, and long time PC gamer, first time poster/builder. :hello:

I've tried to absorb and learn as much as I can before ordering all of my components, and everything seems compatible, but I would appreciate it if some vets could double check and make sure everything lines up well, or make any recommendations.

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice <----- What's your budget, do you have an o/s (Windows), etc...

Also keep in mind I don't think too many people are going to click your links to find out the product and price. It's always a good thing when you label your links w/ product and price.
  2. 1. Please don't drop a series of links on us with no product descriptions.....all that clicking is quite a burden if ya already know the product.

    2. At $1,000 a more, a Sandy Bridge Build is your best bet.....come April when boards are reissued

    3. GTX 480 is an old card, GTX 570 is faster and cheaper.

This build is sized for addition of 2nd GFX card say as an XMas present

  4. Check out my builds in my siggy :)
  5. My living room system seems to play games well on my 46" 1080p tv, its a 939-x2-4400+@2.4ghz/4870-512.
    Here is what i would build if i were to replace it. AMD Phenom II X4 840 Propus 3.2GHz ($109.99 newegg) / $34.99 Crucial Ballistix 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600/ $59.99 ASRock M3A770DE AM3 ddr3 version, crossfirex/
    $29.99 RAIDMAX FUSION ATX-806WB./ Radeon HD 6950 2GB $269.99 ($239 mail in and pray rebate) . $59.99 Antec NEO ECO 520C 520W Continuous Power http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030
It has a 40 amp 12volt rail, with a large card you will need this.
The 6950 is rumoured to sometimes unlock to a 6970.

Keep in mind the atx board i picked is not really a crossfire board since that second slot is only x4 but having extra slots is nice if you want to add a sound card and pvr tuner card.
