What is the best HD 5770 card you can buy

Hi there, i have decided to buy a hd 5770 gpu, although i dont know what ones best, so far ive seen the sapphire vapor-x 1gb 5770 which looks really good, i may want to do some light over clocking on it and any help would be appreciated. and also it would be nice for it to have native VGA oe an adapter included in the box as with the sapphire 5770.

Most 5770's will easily max out catalyst core overclocks, which is 960 mhz. Memory should hit 1300 mhz easily enough.

For the price right now I'd actually go with the 6850 from Sapphire for $155 after MIR and the $15 promo code through the 22nd !!

Much better performance than the 5770 for just a bit more $ -- though the $100 card is a good price if the 5770 is high enough performance for you !

Gonna pay around £100 for a 5770, I can't see many costing less than that.

What do you have at the minute? And what cpu and screen size you got.

Ive got a 17" screen, crappy integrated graphics and pentium 4 @ 3.0ghz

You would be better served getting a lower powered card then. Check ebay for a 4650 or a 4670, I wouldn't bother getting anything faster than that and you can probably pick one up for £30-£40.

In that case I'd save a bit of money on the cpu (get a 1055t instead and overclock it - it's basically the same chip anyway). You can easily save a lot on the psu, certainly no need for an 850W when a 600W will do and more.

Yeah you can save a lot of money. Dominator memory isn't worth it imo, 4gb of bog standard memory will serve you just as well.

If you wanna do a lot of gaming on it, it's definitely worth saving on the cpu/memory and spending that bit more on a better graphics card.

you could also check out the gts450. they are a lil cheaper than the 5770 and offer similar performance and great overclocking. Im really tossing up between the two at the moment myself. But yeah, with a P4 and 17" screen, you wont notice the difference between a 5770 and a 5670. Is it even a dual core p4? if not, id say dont even bother with a 5670, get a gt220. anything better would be a waste.
