Looks good to me, all parts I would consider maybe a step up on ram speed but then again the price is good for 8GB.

I would wait for bulldozer and for sandybridge to be re-released, also can you give a complete list of current parts and ones you will keep (just so I can see if you will really see a huge improvement)

Why the HD upgrade?

I was debating on spending the extra $$$ on some ddr3 1600mhz would it be a considerable difference?

I'm posting from my iPhone so no links sorry

my current build is this
athlonII x3 425 unlocked to phenomII x4 running at 2.7ghz with L3 cache
adata ddr2 800mhz 2x2gb (the blue ones)
ASUS m4a785m mobo

I'm keeping the 2x500gb and the ocz 550w 80+
and my his HD4850 iceq 4 turbo

I would like to buy an additional hd as my 2 500's are about fu and my 1tb external has 11gb left :(

so the hd isn't "needed" but I would lime to include it in the upgrade

With those specs I would wait for the new releases.

everything else shold be good but a sliiiiight step up on the GPU would be good! might require a bit of an upscale on the PSU too tho =s

alright note taken on the hd, I was planning doing a gpu/psu upgrade soon after this ddr3 overhaul but the hd4850 can max out just about everything!

You should wait, your system specs are fine, don't upgrade. Wait for Bulldozer (sorry can't find good link right now) and SB and new-gen SSDs

NO, 64mb cache isn't really gonna make the drive noticeably faster the spinpoint f3 1tb is the best 1tb drive right now for real-world use, it's as fast as the caviar black and is much cheaper.

the ocz 550w will run any single-GPU card on the market don't step up psu

Yeah I was planning on going at least an HD6850 if not an HD6950 depending on price when I decide to upgrade. I was only going to upgrade the PSU if the GPU required it. I'll look into the F3 but I have a "special" connection with WD HD's not sure why I just prefer them.

I've been reading a bunch of Bulldozer and it seems pretty damn exciting might wait it out a little bit to see how those CPU's work out in real world tests

I would only buy WD HDDs if they are on sale Samsung matches their speeds, are quiet, cool, efficient, and cheaper. The only downside is warranty.

No PSU will be needed if going to the 6950 or 6850, What's your Res? if your happy with the 4850 keep it for another generation

I have a 23" Samsung B2330HD that runs at 1920x1080... I would like to get a HD6xxx but am perfectly content with the power of my HD4850 for now. I can run max res/ max settings for the games i play and get anywhere from 40 to over 9000 fps

no reason to upgrade buy a 6xxx series card once they're liquidated when 7xxx series is released

Yeah I'm not in a rush to get a 6xxx like i said I was going to wait that out for now, I'm going to see what happens in the next month or so with the bulldozer and look into getting it.

How noticable is the speed difference between ddr3 1333 and ddr3 1600? Is it worth the price? And which would be better for gaming 8gb 1333 or 4gb 1600?

You won't see a difference, only in benchmarks, I would choose 8gb ddr3 1333 for gaming but 4gb 1333 is enough. I recommend 1600 cas 7 for overclocking though
