Hi guys, i think my computer specs are pretty outdated to play Call of Duty: Black Ops.

My computer specs is:
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2.4 GHz
1 GB Ram
Nvidia GEForce 6150 LE

So, my question is what is the cheapest graphics card, hopefully between $25-$75, that will let me play it without freezing, jerking or static?
Nvidia GT 220? 8400?

I am thinking of spending about $100 total on a new video card and 1 GB RAM. I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

first off what kind of psu do you have?
secondly you are going to need 4 gigs of ram which is pretty much standard for gaming these days. However ddr2 is probly not worth investing in...

I would save my money for a new system as you arent even running a dual core correct??
what resolution do you game at?? what are the rest of your system specs??

With that price range and that system that you currently have its going to be tough to get playable frame rates even with a video card upgrade.. IMHO I would say its time for an upgrade.

i was just installing bioshock 2 and its minimum requirements is
athlon 64 3800 + 2gb ram and nvidia 7800 gt or x1900 gpu
i dont know without looking of cod bo what that is but is probably the same or even need better.
i dont know where you live but in US on craigslist a 100-150 USD will get a low end dual core OEM (Dell,HP etc) if you dig around.
I am running a Dual CPU P4 Xeon 3.2ghz with 2gb ram and a OC'd 7600gs and I can just get Bioshock 2 to play at lowest settings and 1024x768 resolution.
If you want to play the newer games you will have to get a newer system
Is your system custom or factory?
If it custom you could possibly reuse some of your hardware (case, psu,hd,optical drive)

yeah it may run but overall the ops system is no where near where it needs to be to even play on crap settings... time for an upgrade

i think the mina\imum spec for black ops is 2.4ghz dual core..2 gig of ram..nvidia 8800 card...and i dont think it will run well on those specs really,i have 3.06 duo core 4gig ram and ati 4770...512memory and it runs quite well..but i must add this game still has some issues with cpu and frame rate that(i hope) will be patched soon...

^1 definitely
It is fine for internet browsing or cd ripping but if OP wants to play newer games he has to upgrade.
I just bought a new tower used for $75 (LGA775,Sata 3,PCI E x 16,DDR2 800) because my Ole Beast(socket 604,IDE,AGP,PC2100) is just getting too behind the times.
It doesnt have to be a I7 with twin 460s but at least a dual core with sata and pci express x 16 to be a viable game machine

You can sped the rest on the RAM.

Wow talk about a bottleneck
you do realize the OP has a Athlon 64 3800+?
I am all for holding onto to older hardware if it does what you need it to do.
With that said OP wants to play latest games like Black Ops.
It might barely work right now but in a year or two it wont.
The only good thing is the OP could use that card in a later build.

The 5670 is the most powerful card he can run with the least bottleneck.

well he can carry it over to his next build and it is in his budget.
As long as he has PCI-Express x 16 he should be fine
also as long as his psu can handle it (should be ok the 5670 doesnt use that much power)
Well IMO you gave the best answer for what that is worth :)
