Intel core i7 2600 vs intel core i7 2600k

What is the difference between the Core i7 2600 and the core i7 2600k and will the processor fit into the asus p67 rev 3

yes they both will fit.And the only difference is the mutiplier being unlocked in the 2600k, which in turn makes it easier to overclock.

all ddr3 ram would work on a ddr3 slot.And the only way to Overclock a k series such as i7 2600k is to use a p67 or a z68 chipset mobo.

And that ddr3 ram has to be desktop ram.Eg non ecc , unbuffered.

If the primary purpose of this PC is for gaming, then just be aware that there aren't any games that uses Hyper Threading other than a game called Firefly (minor boost in performance). Therefore, an i5 2500k would be a more logical choice.

Hyper Threading comes in handy for video encoding, 3D rendering, and complex database processing though.
