Using Pentium D Dual Core in place of Pentium Dual Core?

I have a Pentium D Dual Core 3.2GHz. I'm looking to upgrade my Mobo to one that has more RAM slots, but there aren't a lot of options on Newegg for Pentium D mobos. Can anyone tell me if a Pentium D Dual core would work in a mobo compatible with Pentium Dual Cores? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. I don't have the exact model number off hand. It's in a Dell PowerEdge 860 that had some hardware issues and was going to get tossed. I know that when I bring up My Computer it shows Pentium D, 3.2 GHz, 3.2 GHz. I have another PC that is also having some hardware issues, but I think the RAM is good. I was pretty much looking for a cheap way to use this processor with a little more RAM, that I have sitting around, than my current system (2x240 pin) and get something that could handle some gaming.
