Hi, I have a E8400 Intel Duo Core CPU @3.0 socket 775

The temps have gone up to around 70-80 on basic internet exploring.

I think it's the heatsink, since I've applied new paste just now and still high temps..

I was thinking of getting this heatsink : http://www.mymemory.co.uk/PC-Accessories/Arctic-Cooling...

Will it fit my CPU?

Well my case is a standard ATX tower case I guess, it should fit.

Yes it fits socket 775. Review of it here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lga-1156-heatsink,2... make sure it fits in your case, it's 122mm high.

I prefer the hyper 212 plus. 1 pound more but better cooling (158mm high).

I might try find the Hyper 212 plus, if it's got better cooling..

Reading on the artic cooler - it says intel i5 and i7 it doesn't say Duo core? I'm a idiot at this stuff, but it will fit?

Yeah don't worry about it not mentioning your CPU. As long as it fits the socket 775, your ok.

You applied new paste, but did you bother to clean your current heatsink?
Dust on the heatsink works like a thermal isolator. To put it short, it keeps the heat on the heatsink instead of letting it cool down ;)

Hey danijel, yeah I cleaned the heatsink out the best I could. I mean it's only been in there for 2 months, and then I replaced it, and the replacement was like half the size...I replaced it because it was making a loud noise, anyways the new one goes in and it's been hot since then. Went to put the old one in and the clips broke, it was a stock intel cooler. So now im gonna pay a bit more for a decent one.
