I was looking to upgrade my computer and want to make sure I get the most bang for my buck... I have an i7-870 with 8gb of ram and a corsair 650 PSU, with a 5770 1 gb video card and a Samsung Syncmaster 2232 BW ( Max resolution is 1680 x 1050).. My question is if I buy a new monitor at 1920 x 1080 is that a big difference from 1680 x 1050? I was looking at buying this

Also since I have a 5770 what video card should I look at.. 570 or 6970 or something else?.. I play AIon, L4D, and various other games on steam.. I was looking at these 2 cards :

Unless you can define "Various other games", I'd just cheapen it up and get an HD6870 or so. My HD6850 runs L4D @ All max just fine on 1920x1080. Aion shouldn't be much harder considering the age either.

If you ever get a chance to crossfire later you won't regret it.

Even the HD5770 is pretty decent for 1080p. It isn't going to max out the more intensive current games but will do well in the large majority of cases, especially if you can live without AA.
So you may want to give it a try for a while before deciding if you personally need something better. If you do then it really depends on what you want to spend. Keep in mind the option of crossfiring the HD5770 if your motherboard allows for such.
