Would the bus speed of my CPU or RAM limit the other if one were greater than the other?

If I were to upgrade my ram from 800 to 1333 speed, would it be limited by my 800Mhz bus processor?

What affect upon each other does the bus speeds of CPU and RAM have?

#1. It depends on your sysem configuration.

#2. As far as I know, no one makes DDR2-1333 RAM. If you are overclocking and you are at 4.4 GHz, your FSB freq is about 315 MHz. So your RAM is running at DDR2-630 speeds. Buying faster RAM would be a waste of money.

#3. Depends on the motherboard. Generally, increasing FSB increases memory speed - unless you have a motherboard where you can independently change the speed of both.

You're right, 1333 is for ddr3 only! 1066 is an option for me however.

What would i need to do to be running at higher FSB speeds? my motherboard can support some pretty quick ram but what would it take for the processor to get up to par?

If I look at the FSB rating for like a Q9650 3.0GHZ, it says 1333MHZ, what kind of RAM frequency would i get with that cpu? my motherboard can support that FSB.

I guess im confused about the relationship between the RAM and the CPU via the FSB.

maybe i need to go to a seminar or read a book or something lol.
