Installing win 8 64 on new ssd for laptop

i just purchased an UX32VD asus zenbook and am going to upgrade the hdd with an ssd hd, how do i get windows 8 on the ssd? i didn't get discs just a product key with my laptop and i read that you can't install win 8 from a usb stick. can i install win 8 from my pc onto the sdd and not install my motherboard drivers and then install it into the laptop? or is this not possible right now?

You can attach the SSD drive as second drive on a working PC. Then you need to make SSD drive bootable and copy the file from the Windows 8 CD to a directory on the SSD Drive.

Connect the SSD Drive to your laptop and let it boot into dos mode. Go to windows 8 directory you created and run the setup file.

Which version do you have ? Full or upgrade version. Make sure you need go to the bios to set AHCI storage mode before you install the win8.

Because you just bought the zenbook, you can get the upgrade version win8 for good price for $15. (end 1/31/2013)

If you have the full version, then you need change the HDD to SSD, watch the youtube first.

After you install the win8, you need tweak and optimize the SSD, you can google "Tweaks / Optimization win8 or win7".

I have a question why do you want to use win8 because zenbook has the win7 on it?

the hdd came with windows 8 (just regular win8 64) on it, and i would like to try out 8 on the ssd that im going to install. thanks for the suggestions going to give them a go!

Use ghost to clone your main drive to the ssd and make sure you copy the boot manager also.

You would have to clone it from the laptop HDD and use an external usb enclosure for the new SSD. I recommend Acronis for cloning or the cloning software that comes from your SSD manufacturer.
