Ok so i got one of the new msi 6970 and have had nothing but problems. gpuz and 3dmark11 basic only see 2mb of 2 gigs of video memory. Its a new win7 pro install becuase my raid drives dead soo now im only on a single wd black 640 32 mb cach. When i load starcraft 2 the first time i opened it. it had every thing at low. when i first installed it with geforce 260 216 cores it loaded on maxx settings. So i put every thing on maxx and loaded a game old fps was 40 to 50 avg never below 29. Im playing it at 1680 by 1050. And i get 100 fps but than it drops down to avg 60 with min around 20. I just feel that something is wrong. I have the drivers off the msi cd i could not get the amd website drivers to install the video card.
I have overclocked it to 915 and ram at 1412. I ran 3dmark11 basic and my score is p4889 witch seems small but maybe im wrong.

My pc is

amd 955 black oced at 3.7 gigs

gskill 1600 4 gigs ram

1 black wd 640 gig hard drive

asus crosshair formula

msi 6970 2 gig memory

antec 750 truepower new

Is this a driver problem, is there something on my mother board im forgeting to switch?

I got the driver 10.12a installed and still low fps. avg 40 to 50 fps in sc2 with 1680by 1050 screen and every thing on ultra. The screen looks kinda cloudy not really clean and sharp. I turned on the new aa fromati morpho but i dont think it helped at all. starting to think about returning this card for a geforce 570. nvidia always work. I really want this damn card to work i would like to do crossfire but i dont feel there is any thing left for me to try. any help welcome.

You have AA and AF off right? AMD drivers do not support them for SC2 at this time.

Also windowed full screen mode takes a huge toll on performance.

Have you tried other games?

Did you properly uninstall all your Nvidia drivers and use driversweeper prior to installing ATI drivers?

The forums are full of people with SC2 FPS problems, even with GTX580's and HD5970's. I suggest you do some reading on the subject.

I had aa and af on maxx because my geforce 260 could do it that way. NO i dont play in windowed mode. My raid system win't down and now im on only one wd black drive soo yes new winb7 pro install. My geforce 260 ran sc2 at 40 to 50 fps never droping below 28 and could never tell. with the 6970 you can really feel the slow down.

You mentioned you are forcing AA on and probably have been playing with other settings. Did you by chance turn on Supersampling AA mode? Supersampling AA mode is very demanding. It's not to be used on games that struggle with FPS already, but it can clean up some less demanding games very well.

Like I said, AMD's drivers do not support AA/AF for SC2 at this time, it's a brand new card. So turn them off.

6970 is MUCH faster than a GTX260, so maybe you should try another game until SC2 drivers are fixed.

You still haven't mentioned if you have tried another game.

Another thing is a GTX260 is only DX10, so you WERE running the game in DX10. HD6970 is DX11, so NOW your running the game in DX11. Wouldn't that take a hit if your comparing it to your GTX260 running those settings with only DX10?

You must be mistaken, about 2 weeks after release of SC2, ATI added support for AA.

I also just got done testing AA on a system with a 6950, and it maxed out my refresh rate without AA, and had 30 FPS with 4x SSAA turned on. The image quality most certainly was better with supersampling AA on than without. MSAA was harder to see, as it left the middle of the images aliased, and smoothed out the edges.

Was this something disabled and just put back in on the lastest drivers? I don't know, but as of the latest drivers, I can confirm that AA does work on SC2 with the latest AMD cards.

Based on the benchmark that Notty posted, no card can always keep Starcraft 2 out of the 20's.
