Edit 1: I probably should have said that I'm asking for advice on this build, will the components work together etc.?

Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as Asus P67 B3 Rev. boards become available

Budget Range: $750-850 after rebates, combo deals, etc.

System Usage from Most to Least Important:

1) Running Matlab scrips (finite difference modeling and optimization) for consulting work-wouldn't be a main work computer but it would be useful for the random part-time job offers I get.

2) Some gaming: LoL, WoW, nothing too graphics intensive

3) Potentially: finite element modeling-a moderately decent GPU would be helpful for rendering meshes etc.

4) HD (1080p) playback

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, HDD, Win7 x64 license

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Country of Origin: USA

Overclocking: Yes - as needed for CPU intensive optimization problems

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe - if I need it in the future, would like to have the option down the road

Monitor Resolution: 1440x900 - not for 1080p playback, that would be on the TV

Parts Preferences: What I have so far:

-- CPU --
Intel i5 2500k

-- Mobo --
Asus P8P67 Pro (when it becomes available)

-- RAM --
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1333 CL: 7

-- PSU --
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W

-- GPU --
MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 1GB

-- Case --
Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Additional Comments: Total for everything above is something around $890, I'm expecting $30-45 in rebates, etc. I'm not at all concerned with how the case looks but would like some decent cable management as that PSU is not modular. Please comment at least on the PSU, I've been hitting my head against the wall flip-flopping among brands to find the most reliable PSU that does the job. Also, the RAM: from what I can tell, 1600 MHz will not offer me much unless the CL is similar, but if someone else can convince me otherwise I'll consider it. The RAM listed above isn't on the QVL for the Asus P67 boards, will this be an issue? This will be replacing my Core2Quad system that recently died...alas, pre-built cheap computers are cheap.

Thanks so much for your time,
~Scott

Thank you all for the quick replies. That asrock mobo looks great, how did I miss that before...? That antec PSU is a good deal too-I realize that I don't need all 750 watts now, but if at some point I do I won't have to buy a new PSU. The option is worth the difference in price. With those price cuts I'll throw in that third party cooler as well. Thanks again!

The case I linked to has much better cooling and excellent build quality. All the 3x120mm and 1 x140mm fans are multispeed and nearly silent on low. For the same price you can not beat the Antec.

nhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127519
n
nThis'll give the same performance (-5% performance...) but for a saving of $50 on the graphics.
nWith your 1440x900 res it'll be even less (2-3%) which is not noticeable.
nSo if you get 100 fps with the 1 GB version, you'll only get 98 with the 460 768mb.
n
nNot worth the $50 perhaps, your decision.
