New Computer, Monitor not responding!

I just built my first gaming PC and my monitor won't work. It says "no signal" even though I have the cables hooked up to my video card. I tried putting in the CD that came with the monitor, the video card's CD, and my OS disk, but none of them would bring anything on the monitor. What could be wrong?
