Hi guys, need help again on same topic of memory issue I got 4 Dimms Of Corsair XMS3 DD3 1600mhz[CMX4GX3M1A1600C9] total 16gb and i have Motherboard of Gigabyte 990fxa-UD5.problem arises when i got all 4 of my corsair dimms in my system except 3DS MAX AND MAYA eveything runn fine only these two software which i work on crashes i mean rendering crashes but unfortunately when i remove all of dimms and i only use one dimm of Corsair XMS3 DD3 1600mhz[CMX4GX3M1A1600C9] then render runs like charms no crash no error nothing 49hours rendering stabily until i stopped for rest but on heavy scene i need more memory and i check in corsair's website in memory configurator i found my memory but there they say i can use only one dimm in my pc at a time of same model no although their they mention sm [CMX16GX3M1A1600C9] ALTHOUGH this ram is exactly same the memory i using frequney latency all same still i m confused according to them as there they mention for 16gb i shud be having seperate 16gb kit but i buyed all of my rams seperately i mean first i buy 4gb then 12gb like this so as per they mention it seem to me tht i will have to buy again new rams can find way help guys confusion

Solution

The only difference between the 16 GB kit and 4 individual ram modules is the vendor takes an extra step in testing all 4 as a kit to insure the minimum number of installation issues. The 4 individual modules have a greater chance of being unstable than the kit. Your memory should, in theory, work just fine.

also i there compulsorry to tht model memory which corsair suggest to runn 16gb for the motherboard rather to to buy seperate seperate rams of 4+4+4+4gb of ram actually confused in ther part number CMX16GX3M1A1600C9 THT WAT THEY SUGGEST FOR HAVING 16GB FOR MY MOTHERBOARD TYPE And I HAVE CMX4GX3M1A1600C9 WHICH EXACTLY SAME AS THE OTHER ONE ONLY 1.5V AND MINE IS 1.65V

So you did NOT buy a 16gb kit, just 4 4gb sticks of RAM? In order to get multiple sticks of ram to work together, they must ALL have the same specifications(voltage, timings). That's why they recommend matched kits, as all the sticks have been tested together and match. You cannot mix RAM that requires different voltages. :pfff:

Ok i just wana know Will my 4+4+4+4Gb of XMS3 DDR3 1600MHZ will runn stabily or ill havw to go and seek pair of 16gb kit for my mobo Also below My whole Sysem config

Ok i just Did u said like earlier to bump up like voltage for DRAM i mean ram in bios By Default it was set to an Auto And 1.5v,So i changed it According to My ram Voltage 1.65V Seems like render is going 3hours stable stilll looking forward to get stablelize permanently

If you were running 1.65 V ram @ 1.5 volts, that would certainly cause stability problems...

ya in ur earlier post as u said bump a bit voltage for ram tht time i give it try cause prior to it one time i did mess up with bios so in order not get in to tht kind of prob i did'nt went to bios now it seem a bit stabilty in my rams specially while rendering actually before bumping sm voltage in bios i use to get render crashes like every 15mins interval but now its has increase time interval of crashes also till sm extent the crashes seem to be a bit reduce but cant say it perfectly stable untill it give me long days an nights of stabilty of rendering also thx for ur opinion of increasing voltage and one doubt i have do i go for again new pair of 16 gb kits or just increase voltage of ram and get psu more then 400wattage becoz at moment im using generic psu local psu of 400 watts

You might try bumping the voltage up to 1.675 or 1.7 Volts. I would try that before buying different ram. As for the PSU, I always recommend getting a name brand with a good track record(Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, Enermax, PCP&C). It is good insurance.
