Help $300 vid card needed

For $300.00 USD which video card is the Best I have looked at all the comparisons and I am still confused, I play games extensively...I like the Gigabyte 5870 but it had mixed reviews so I am still on the fence I also read that 68XX series is not as powerful as the 58XX series cards....Please Help

The HD69XX cards are the HD58XX replacements, not the HD68XX. For $300 the best card you can get is the HD6950, especially if your resolution is 1920x1080. If your resolution is 1680x1050 then get an HD6870 or HD5870.
Of those two I'd grab the 6870 as it's much newer. Performance isn't as great, but can be OC'd to equal performance should you choose to do so.

Either card will net you a massive increase over your current HD4870.
