Wondering about my new psu

That's not a good unit. Ultra's are pretty low quality. To ensure getting a quality unit, you generally shouldn't buy something that's not from Antec, SeaSonic, Corsair, Silverstone or XFX.

You didn't even get a good deal on it. XFX's 750W, which is also modular and more efficient, is only $99 after promo, rebate and shipping.

Not really. The main problems with having a crappy PSU is that your machine will draw a lot more power than necessary, which increases your power bills. The second problem is that it won't actually put out the power it states it will. This is especially critical if you try to Crossfire/SLI. And finally, a bad PSU is likely to take other parts of the build with it when it dies.

Avoid Raidmax and Ultra .... they are one of the few lines that are bad across the board. .... Most major brand make different units for different markets. For example:

This Antec Neo gets a 6.5 performance rating (read budget PSU)

This Antec gets a 10.0 performance rating (read serious enthusiast PSU)

In other words, if you concentrate solely on Brand, you may be disappointed. Here's some guidance

Antec SG / CP / HCP series - 1st tier
Antec EA / TP / TPQ series - 2nd Tier
Antec Basiq / Neo series - 3rd tier

Corsair AX / HX series - 1st tier
Corsair TX / CX series - 2nd tier

XFX Black Edition - 1st tier
XFX Core Edition - 2nd tier

Seasonic X Series - 1st tier

In the US, right now XFX is being very aggressive with their pricing and have the best deals about right now
