Right now I'm running at 1080p and have an xfx radeon hd 4870 512mb (so most games run like poo at 1080p). I'm looking to upgrade it but I figured I ask some people with more knowledge on what to get. I'm looking for the best possible GPU for under 250 dollars.

Currently looking at the Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 or a GTX 470 (or maybe a 460?). Any better cards out there for the price that I'm missing?

You can ge more than a 6870 ATI-wise for $250... If you look hard enough, you could find a Radeon 5870 (more powerful than a 6870, long story), for about that much. Nvidia-wise, a 470 seems like a pretty good option, but if you wanted to spend a little less, you could get a GTX 460 1GB for $170ish and then OC it.

I'd hurry up and grab the HD5870 linked below. At only $229 (AR), it's the best possible performance you're going to get. The $30-off offer ends the 31'st.

Awesome just ordered it. Now I can finally use my computer the way it was meant to be used. The 4870 w/ 512mb wasnt cutting it at a 1080p. This should do the job. Heard it can run Crysis at max with AA. YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
