Difference between AM3 and AM3+ ?

Hi. I have a AMD phenom x4 965 which says its a AM3. will it fit into a motherboard that says AM3+? also what is FM1 and what cpu do i need to put into a FM1 motherboard?

I can only answer part of your question...I have an AMD phenom x4 965 as well and it's currently running in an Asus Crosshair V motherboard which is AM3+. The AM3+ socket was made for the 'bulldozer' 8-core cpu.

seriously though, its just the next generation socket. For buldozers and piledrivers and such.
