How do we recover information from hard ! HELP

Hello,
My fiance' has lost a thump drive that is very very important! He did have the imformation on his old computer. He has taken those that computer apart and started making two computers. Does have the information on the hard drives but he has reformatted one and then when we discovered he had lost the thump drive he unformatted it trying to recover this information. We are having no luck! This thump drive had my friends deased son's pics and poetry she has written about him on it... PLEASE HELP US!!!

Then he should send the hard disk and the thumb drive to a data recovery service. Hopefully you haven't run too many free tools that possibly have caused even more damage.

Sorry. I thought that he had lost the info on the thumb drive.
