System won't boot

I woke up this morning with a black screen error message indicating the system couldn't find a boot device. Everything looks normal in the BIOS so I decided to re-install XP PRO from the disk. The setup screens looked normal. When I reached a point where I had to make a keyboard entry the system didn't respond to the keyboard even though it did in the BIOS. It appears to me I have a MB problem. Any suggestions welcome.

The solution is even stranger than the problem. SOMEHOW, the boot order sequence had changed so that the system was trying to boot from a storage HDD instead of the boot HDD. I suspect this is due to an overnight XP update from Microsoft gone wrong. Thanks Bill.
