Would this Graphics Card work?

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 546 and I am looking to upgrade the video card, hopefully without getting a new PSU. I was wondering if this card would work > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-522&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=2#scrollFullInfo

It says it needs a minimum 300 and my computer does have a 300 watt PSU.

  1. It will work, you can though go a step higher and run a GT240 or up to HD5670 on your 300watt PSU (although manufacturers recommend higher) Here are some system load benchmarks http://www.anandtech.com/show/2935/13
  2. I have an HD 5670 in my inspiron 546, but it's paired with an athlon le-1660 (2.8ghz single-core) and it's causing some severe bottlenecking on new games like Just Cause 2 and Mafia 2... Though on 2008 and older games it works amazingly well. And it blows the GT 220 out of the water.
  3. I recommend the HD 5670 over the GT 240 since it uses less power. Overall they probably provide equal performance; in some games the HD 5670 is better, in others the GT 240 is better.

Do not buy the 1GB version of the HD 5670 as you will not see any benefits over the 512MB version. See following review:
