AMD Phenom II X6 1100T or Wait for AM3+

Hey Guys I need help in building a budget gaming rig, I have a XFX GTX 275 896MB but its running on a 90nm Intel dual core that bottlenecks the whole thing when i game.

I game at 1920 X 1080 resolution so I request you guys to suggest me shall go for AMD Phenom II X6 1100T/1090T BE or Wait for AM3+ or i just completely change my view and go for i5 2400/2500k as i cannot afford the i7's...lolzzZZZ.

Really appreciate your help as i am very much confused...!!! :)

More about phenom 1100t wait
  1. If your gaming drop the hexcore and get a 955be or 975be
plus the 2500k is the best gaming chip right now, am3 stuff who knows lol, maybe it'll be better, maybe not
and the 275gtx is an older card, grab a Nvid460/Ati5770 minimum
4Gb of ram and your a happy gamer
    Moto
  2. i would advise you to get the i5 2500k and a cheap most likely asrock p67 or z68 mobo. The i5 2500k is the budget king of performance now.
  3. if your building a gaming rig, either wait for bulldozer benchmarks or go intel SB. forget AMD if building a new gaming system right now and especially forget 6 core, you will end up with 2 cores not being used at all in 99% of games.
  4. what socket are you using? you might be able to squeeze some more life out of your system without buying new everything. If you just want to start over am3 is a pretty cheap socket. you can find a phenom II x4 2.8ghz or an athlon II x4 3ghz for like 100$ on newegg. So what if sandy bridge can stroke your epenis for across the country? in 2 years it will be yesterday's garbage just like everything else.
  5. Well, I'd say wait for AM3+

    Check this link out http://www.hardwarezone.com.my/features/view/177773
  6. get AM3+ you can SLI your VGA at 990x mobo and wait bulldozer .. just next week in Juni - JUli and, mobo Am3+ can used AM3 CPU.
  7. Go for the i5 2500K. It is the best gaming CPU you can buy currently, and it's only about $200

Bulldozer is very unlikely to match the 2500K core-to-core so either way, it will not be better for games
  8. I am using LGA 775...lol, hey bro tell me a thing if i go for Sandy bridge, in your opinion how future proof is that socket....and most importantly will i be able to play my games at this resolution in HD without any bottleneck issues.... :)

Yes it is much more future proof IMO.I really recommend a Sandy Bridge build.

And according to most rumors it would work with a p67 and h67 mobo but we cant really comment on these rumors because Intel has yet to speak of them.

Bulldozer delayed until 'maybe late July'....

As for the 4 core vs 6 core debate, it's worse than simply 2 cores 'not being used', the two extra cores actually detract from performance due to OS overhead....
  11. Just wait and see if BD can compete with 2500k then make your choice.

    gtx275 way better than a 5770. It's equal to gtx460

If your already using socket 775, what cpu are you using? core 2 CPU's are pretty much on par with Phenom 2 performance clock for clock so upgrading to a phenom2 is not really an upgrade IMO

Would have to assume a Pentium D since he says it's a 90nm dual core.
  16. I would suggest waiting until BD drops.

If its price/performance can equal SB then you can go the BD route. If not, the current AMD line will drop in price, or you can go with the SB and know that you aren't going to kick yourself for not waiting an extra month.
  17. phenoms and athlons are undervalued today
For example 9x5 c3 be is comparable to all old i5's and i7's. And for it's low price it could be better choice for a gaming rig than a SB, ofc in some countries only.
  18. well you can get an i3 2100 for the same price as a PII 965 in Australia, and we all know the i3 is much faster for gaming than a PII x4 and has upgrade potential to SB i5/i7. Bulldozer is so close now that you may aswell wait before making the plunge.
  19. i3 isn't much faster for gaming. In a real life, you won't even spot a difference. :)

As I said "ofc in some countries only." here were I live, i3 2100 costs more than a 965 and almost the same as the x6 pII's.
  20. Best to wait for BD. Since your rig has lasted you so long, might as well wait another 2 months and see how things unfold. Unless you're full of cash or in a dire need of new pc, waiting is the best option.
  21. What is your budget???
  22. Right its a Pentium D 2.8GHz...:(
  23. $400
  24. GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ $139 , 955BE $119.99, Ripjaw Gsskill 8GB $65
    total $ 325 = 75 .... ? :D
