Hello, I was curious on what would b the best upgade cpu i currently have
amd 64 xII 5400 2.8ghz.. I c so many different things on different sites that it will suppport.. i am wanting a decent not a real high end cpu probably mid-grade, and definitely with alot more L1-L2 cache

The amd 64 xII 5400 2.8ghz is an AM2 socket. I could not find a new AM2 socket CPUs on Newegg. You may need to look on ebay or Amazon for a used CPU. Another option is to upgrade your motherboard to a board that supports an AM3 or AM3+ socket. Hope that helps.

you can fit anything up to a phenom 965 into that Motherboard, which would be a fantastic upgrade over your current CPU.

they are both great CPUs and will give you great performance for a few years more. Also are you in the UK or the US?

ok the cpu support site has am3 cpus listed, but i have seen alot of research stating that the am3 based cpu's are not compatiable with am2/am2+,etc.. due to i think memory controller.. can anyone help
